Bio:
4th professional season … Son of former MLB All-Star and future Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn … Named 2005 Southern League mid-season All-Star … Named “best defensive outfielder” in Southern League in 2004.

2005 SEASON
  • Ranked as the Brewers’ 24th-best prospect by Baseball America entering the 2005 season
  • Spent his second consecutive season with Double-A Huntsville, batting .271 with one HR and 41 RBIs in 133 games
  • Finished 4th in the Southern League in at-bats (509), fifth in walks (76), tied for sixth in runs scored (83), and placed 10th in hits (138)
  • Played exclusively in center field, where he led SL outfielders in games (133), total chances (307), and putouts (294) for the second straight year; added eight outfield assists
  • Stole a team-high 34 bases in 49 chances to rank 6th in the circuit
  • Produced 44 multiple-hit games, including a season-best three hits on six occasions
  • Hit only .229 with runners in scoring position (27-for-118)
  • Named the starting DH for the North Division in the Southern League All-Star Game on 7/13 at Mobile; went 1-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored; gave the North a 1-0 lead with his third-inning single
  • Got off to a fast start, hitting .318 in April (27-for-85) - his lone month over .300
  • Recorded two hits in five straight games from 4/24-4/28 to raise his average to a season-best .333
  • Batted .405 (15-for-37) during a nine-game hitting streak from 5/13-5/21
  • Stole three bases in a game twice: 5/16 vs. Jacksonville & 9/5 at Chattanooga
  • Matched his career high with a team-best 14-game hitting streak from 8/4-8/18 (21-for-58, .362)
  • Belted his only longball of the season on 8/31 at Tennessee, ending a 646 at-bat homerless stretch
